Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris born October 20th 1964) is an American lawyer and politician who is currently the 49th vice-president of the United States. She is the first woman to be elected vice president and is also the most powerful female officer in the history of America. As a member of the Democratic Party, she previously was the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017 and as a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. Her first job was with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was appointed district attorney for San Francisco. In 2010 Harris was elected Attorney General of California and was re-elected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the second African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. In her time as a senator, she pushed for health reform, federal descholaring of cannabis, a path for undocumented immigrants to become citizens as well as the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. Harris also backed progressive tax reform. She is best known for her pointed questions of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
